Prep Roundup: Peyton Harrison belts two home runs in Atlanta's district-clinching 28-10 win

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas -- Peyton Harrison belted two home runs and finished with four RBIs as Atlanta put up a football score against Paul Pewitt in its 28-10 victory on Tuesday on the road to claim the District 14-3A championship.

The win marked Atlanta's 10th straight.

The Rabbits, who had 20 hits in the triumph, exploded for 16 runs in the third inning to take a 21-0 lead before Paul Pewitt could stop the bleeding with four runs in the bottom of the frame. Atlanta would go on to score four in the fourth and three in the fifth, while the Brahmas added six in the final two innings.

Mitchell, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, matched Harrison's four RBIs. Leadoff hitter Will Woodruff finished with three RBIs, and Chris Hale, Michael Dubuisson, and Brady Partain collected two apiece. Three other Rabbits had one.

Woodruff also had a game-high three hits in the win.

Atlanta (14-9-1, 9-2), which hasn't lost since March 12 against Redwater, will host White Oak on Saturday before clashing with Hooks on Tuesday.

Hooks falls to third after loss to DeKalb

DeKALB, Texas -- Hooks let DeKalb get off to a fast start and couldn't mount the comeback as the Bears took a 9-3 win on Monday and a one-game lead for second place in the District 14-3A standings.

With the loss, Hooks falls to 10-14 overall and 6-4 in the district, while DeKalb moves to 14-7 and 7-3.

Braden McDonald led the Hornets with two hits, while teammates Casen May and Grant Rampy had one each. McDonald, Ripken Birdwell, and Logan Baker finished with an RBI.

Hooks will host New Boston (7-12, 3-6) on Friday.

Second-place Maud cruises past Avery

AVERY, Texas -- Maud needed just four innings to dispatch Avery, 21-1, on Tuesday to hold onto second place in District 17-2A.

Leading 10-0 after two innings, the Cardinals scored eight more in the third and three in the fourth in the run-rule-shortened game.

Infielders Graham Hawkins, Trentyn Sisson, and Reyce Bailey led Maud with two hits. Leadoff hitter Bailey scored four runs, and Hawkins, Sisson, Kaleb Newton, Ryker Bailey, and Brady Allison all had two RBIs.

Bailey struck out three and walked three in three innings, and Allison struck out one in 2/3 innings of work.

Maud (10-6, 8-4) returns to action on Friday when it travels to Rivercrest (11-8, 7-4)

Linden-Kildare edges James Bowie with walk off

LINDEN, Texas -- Maysen Lemmon singled twice and drove in two runs, Peyton Foreman added a single and two RBIs and Linden-Kildare scored once in the bottom of the eighth to walk off with a 5-4 win over James Bowie.

Hugh Tyson singled twice for the Tigers, and Logan Hankins added an RBI. Lemmon worked all eight innings on the hill, striking out eight and walking one, according to the Longview News-Journal.

Gunner Robinson, Tyner Melton and Maddux Tyndell led the Pirates with two hits. Robinson also had two RBIs.

James Bowie falls to 11-7-1 overall and 7-5 in District 17-2A.

Atlanta hands Pewitt big loss for 23rd victory

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas -- Tori Clayton drove in five runs on three hits, including a three-run home run, as Atlanta cruised past Paul Pewitt, 19-4, for its 23rd win of the season.

Clayton finished 3-for-3 and also scored two runs for Atlanta (23-8).

The Lady Rabbits got off to a fast start, scoring 10 runs in the first. On 15 hits, they added five more in the third, three in the fourth, and one in the fifth.

Along with Clayton, Anna Davis had three hits. She also finished with three RBIs and scored two runs. Kalissa Reliford and Michaela Knight had two hits apiece.
