Atlanta woman dies in Friday rollover on U.S. 59

TEXARKANA, Texas – A rollover accident claimed the life of an Atlanta, Texas, resident Friday afternoon on U.S. Highway 59, about 3 miles south of the city.

Kayla Parris, 39, was the passenger in a 2003 Ford Expedition heading north on the highway about 2:30 p.m., according to a preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing the Expedition to travel into the median, hit a guardrail and roll.

Parris, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was uninjured.

The speed limit is 75 mph along the section of U.S. 59 where the accident occurred, near Farm to Market Road 2148.
