TO THE EDITOR:
In response to Randy Mauldin's letter to the editor 12/4/2023. Mr Mauldin attacks Mike Johnson the Speaker of the US house of representatives wanting to release all the tapes of the of January 6 ,2020, protest at the U.S. capitol. Mr Mauldin fears the release will show exactly the truth of what went on there. I was watching live on TV and saw with my own eyes the video tape and what went on. I saw Capitol police acting very much like tour guides and answering questions mingling with protestors. I believe the tapes is your downfall for the hyperbole of insurrection, that is what you fear. There were a few , very few, bad apples in the protest and you must continue this lie in order to try to use the insurrection clause to keep Donald Trump from running in and winning in 2024. Some folks are ignorant of the truth and you want to keep it that way.
