Letter to the Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

Several times recently I have seen on Fox News, and twice on local TV, political advertisements accusing Gary VanDever of being anti-2nd Amendment, that is, his being in favor of more gun control legislation. These ads cite no specifics to support their assertion.

Mr. VanDever is rated "A" by the NRA, based on his voting record, not jawbone. This last week the NRA Institute for Legislative Action sent a postcard to me, and I suppose all NRA members, confirming this "A" rating and specifically endorsing Mr. VanDever for reelection.

The TV ads mentioned simply make unsubstantiated claims against VanDever.

One can hold differing views about school choice and other opinions and offer honestly reasoned arguments on behalf of their position. The ad I refer to above is simply untrue. Your readers deserve to know.

Anyone who wishes can go to the NRA website and learn for themselves the rating of all state and federal elected legislators. It's not necessary to be a member.
