State troopers recognized for solving bank robbery

Three Arkansas State Police investigators recently were honored for solving a robbery at Diamond Bank last summer in Mineral Springs.
Special agents Sgt. Richard Gentry, Cpl. John Rhone and Cpl. Corwin Battle of the Criminal Investigation Division, Company C, were awarded commendations for their investigative work in July 2016 resulting in the arrest of four Tulsa, Okla., residents suspected in bank robberies in Arkansas.
"An Arkansas State Police Commendation is awarded to troopers and civilian staff for exemplary service through diligence and perseverance and performs duties above and beyond the standard under unusual circumstances and conditions," said the report announcing the awards.
The Mineral Springs bank was robbed about 3 p.m. July 25, 2016. Security footage shows the robbers entering the bank, with two of them leaping over the counter and filling bags with cash from drawers before the group leaves the building.
The heist took about two minutes, according to reports.
Clothing believed to have been worn by the robbers was found discarded in the Mineral Springs city park, about six blocks from the bank.
