Second person dies after car, log truck collide

A second person has died as a result of a collision between a car and log truck Wednesday on the Texas side.

Lawrence Ware, 84, driver of the car, suffered serious injuries in the crash and later died at Wadley Regional Medical Center, according to a Texarkana, Texas, Police Department news release.

His wife, Norma Ware, 82, was a passenger in the 2010 Lexus and was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The Wares were from Atlanta, Texas.

Willis Walker, 60, of Ogden, Ark., drove the log truck. After the crash he was transported to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital, treated for injuries and released.

The collision happened about 7:35 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of South Lake Drive and Buchanan Road

"Walker was travelling northbound on South Lake Drive in a 1997 International Truck. Ware was southbound and attempting to make a left turn onto Buchanan Road. The log truck struck Ware's vehicle as it crossed into the path of the truck," TTPD stated.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. TTPD asks anyone with information to call the department at 903-798-3116.
