COACH STEVE WELLS' COMMENTS: "We didn't do a real good job in our special teams the other night. We didn't have good field position, and we snapped the ball over the quarterback's head on the first play of the game, losing 20 yards. We really had trouble getting field position the rest of the half. We had our punt blocked, and we also gave up a safety. It was one thing after another. We allowed too many yards on the kickoff return right before halftime.

" We had a chance to go up 19-14, and we fumbled the ball to them. Offensively, we have to protect the ball better. Defensively, we gave up too many big plays. I thought the front played really well, but we got beat too many times. One was busted coverage, but a few other times, we didn't do a good job of breaking on the ball. Those are correctable things we'll work hard on this week. I thought our kids played really hard, and I saw some good things that will help us down the road. We just have to get through this brutal nonconference schedule."
