Company to hold job fair this week

Mayo Manufacturing will hold a Winter Job Fair and Open House on Thursday at its downtown Texarkana, Texas, furniture factory, and they will extend job offers before Christmas, a company spokeswoman said.

The event will be held in two sessions, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but job-seekers must pre-register and submit job applications beforehand for priority interviews and a tour of the company's "new, employee-centered addition." Those who do not apply ahead of time may do so at the event.

Human resources and management representatives will be available to speak with job candidates at the fair, which is Mayo's first on-site hiring event.

"Job fairs are an excellent time to interact with candidates before the hiring process begins, and it allows the candidates to experience the company's culture," said LaTonya McElroy, director of human resources.

Open positions include machine operators, upholsterers, CDL drivers, sewing machine operators, fabric and leather handlers, quality assurance and upholstery servicers, fabric cutters, foam and stuffing operators, final finishers (packing and wraping finished goods), warehouse personnel, mill operators (woodworking and machine off-loading), foam operators, bilingual human resources staffing assistant and advance level customer service representative.

To see a list of open positions and apply, go to mayofurniture.com/employment or visit Mayo Manufacturing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 4101 Terry St. Pre-register for the job fair in person or by calling 903-831-1117.

Within the last year, Mayo expanded the production area and product design and development zone and added employee parking, administrative offices, employee dining facilities, restrooms and a mini food market.

"We are excited that many fortunate candidates will be able to take a brand new job home for Christmas," McElroy said.
