The city of Texarkana, Texas, has approved the release of more than $11,300 in reserved maintenance funds to allow Texarkana Museums System to continue with a $50,276 grant proposal to the Texas Preservation Trust Fund Grant Program.

The Ace of Clubs House was recently chosen to go to the second round in the grant application process, provided they could secure the required matching funds of $25,276.

Through the museum's GoFund Me campaign, private donations, an art auction by the students at Morriss Elementary and a match of $1,000 of the auction proceeds by Offenhauser Co., the museum system was able to raise $13,945 in the past two months. In a show of support the city will provide the rest of the matching funds through money allocated under the Hotel Occupancy Tax Funds for maintenance of the Ace of Clubs House.

If awarded, this $50,276 will provide a much-needed boost for the Ace of Clubs House Capital Campaign Fund, which is seeking to raise $300,000 for repairs and improvements. This grant would help complete the first three crucial stages of drainage, roof and gutter repairs.
