Local Daughters of the Republic of Texas Commemorates Founding 80 Years Ago

Local members of the James Bowie chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas recently held their 80th anniversary commemoration of the chapter's 1937 founding by placing a memorial wreath at the James Bowie statue in the 800 block of North State Line Avenue. The chapter received its charter June 15, 1937, a year after the statue was built.
