Court seizes abused dog; hearing set at end of month

Suspect in video is still at large

Lady, a dog abused on video in Texarkana, Texas, has been ordered seized pending the outcome of a court hearing later this month, according to police.

After reviewing the case, Texarkana, Texas, Municipal Court Judge Sherry Jackson ordered the dog seized and set a court hearing for 11 a.m. Nov. 28 at the Bi-State Criminal Justice Center. Jackson will decide whether or not it is in the best interest of the dog to be permanently removed from the owner's care.

Lady has been receiving treatment for a broken leg at a local veterinarian clinic since Sunday. She is expected to make a full recovery.

The clinic has asked people not to call the vet to check on Lady because it is impeding its ability to deliver services to the community.

Texarkana, Texas, police continue to investigate the case. A felony warrant for cruelty of nonlivestock animals was issued Monday for the suspect, LeGus Holloway, 69, of Texarkana, Texas. Texarkana Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to Holloway's arrest. Anonymous tips can be reported by calling 903-793-STOP.
