Law Enforcement Torch Run T-shirts available through May 11

Proceeds go to local Special Olympics

Texarkana, Ark., Police Department is gearing up for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run set for May 20 by selling T-shirts to support local Special Olympics athletes.

Event T-shirts are available for $15 until May 11.

During the event, TAPD officers will carry the "Flame of Hope" 18 miles down U.S. Highway 67, then pass the torch to Hope, Ark., police officers.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is held in 50 states and in 35 countries, raising $20 million annually and recruiting more than 15,000 law enforcement officers from all over the world.

"We hope that you will cheer for us or honk your horn as we run by," a post on the department's Facebook page states.
