Cossatot FFA chapter receives $1,200 grant for service project

The University of Arkansas Cossatot collegiate FFA chapter in De Queen, Ark., has been awarded a $1,200 Living to Serve Grant. The nationwide program provides grant money to local FFA chapters to support semester-long service learning projects that address needs related to community safety; environmental responsibility; hunger, health and nutrition and community engagement during the fall semester.

UA Cossatot FFA plans to help address student hunger by supporting food closets on UA Cossatot campuses. The grant monies will assist in logistical costs and promoting the program to all UA Cossatot students. The UA Cossatot Center for Student Success is currently collecting monetary donations and nonperishable food items for food closets on the De Queen, Ashdown, and Nashville campuses.

The program provided more than $60,000 to FFA chapters in 19 states and Puerto Rico. Living to Serve Grants are sponsored by CoBank, CSX, Tractor Supply Company, Chevrolet, Cargill, Domino's, Elanco and Sealed Air.
