The All-Region Jazz Band Concert will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove High School's Performing Arts Center, 5406 McKnight Road, Texarkana, Texas.
The band is comprised of 18 top regional high school jazz musicians. Chosen in an audition earlier this month, students had to prepare four pieces of music and try out for the coveted 18 spots available in the band. The musicians will not only participate in the All-Region Jazz Band, but will also be able to audition for the All-State Jazz Band. The band also includes reigning All-State piano player Micah York of Redwater High School.
Schools represented in the band are Hooks, Redwater, Pleasant Grove, Mt. Vernon, Liberty-Eylau, DeKalb, Quitman and Hawkins High Schools. Guest clinician is Heather Mensch, who leads a jazz program at Tyler Junior College.
The concert is free and open to the public.
