Texas-side officials probe vehicle fire

Texarkana, Texas, Fire Department officials are investigating a vehicle fire that occurred Friday afternoon on South Lake Drive.

Texas-side Fire Chief Eric Schlotter said the fire damaged a silver, late-model BMW that appeared to have been discarded or dumped near the 3900 Block of South Lake Drive about 3:30 p.m.

The BMW burst into flames shortly after being discarded by two "people of interest," who fled the scene in what appeared to be a green-over-gray Toyota Forerunner.

Schlotter said the two people appear to be a young adult male driver, accompanied by a young woman.

At presstime, Schlotter said he could not comment on the investigation except to say his department is trying attempting to unravel complicated details.

He said anyone with information can call Texas-side Deputy Fire Marshal Chuck Weertz at 903-798-3994.
