DVP organization will have grand reopening for its Atlanta, Texas, office

Domestic Violence Prevention, Inc. is having a grand reopening for its Cass County office and Hidden Treasures Resale Store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 12 in Atlanta, Texas. The office is located at 201 E. Hiram and the resale shop is located nearby at 203 E. Hiram.

DVP is having the event to draw attention to changes at the resale store and to educate the community about the services they provide for victims of domestic violence and sexual
assault.

"We revamped our resale shop. We have rearranged it. It was very cluttered and we didn't have the best quality items. We've been accepting higher quality donations and going through and weeding out some of the lower quality items," said Ashton Lindsey, DVP coordinator for Cass County. "It looks a thousand times better and makes it easier to
shop."

Profits from the resale shop support the services and programs provided by DVP.

"We help victims of both domestic violence and sexual assault. We have group services, a counselor on staff, advocates for domestic violence, sexual assault and legal issues," she said.

DVP also has a shelter for women, children or men who need it.

The resale shop is helpful to clients in another way.

"We have clients who've fled their homes and have left everything behind. They leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They are able to go to the shop and get what they need at no cost. It helps them get back on their feet and start over," Lindsey said.

There will be door prizes, snacks and drinks at the grand reopening and the public is invited to attend.

"We are doing this to reacquaint the community with our office, resale shop and our services. We want to let them know what all we do and to see the changes we've made to they store," Lindsey said.
