Hospice of Texarkana to host workshop for vets

Hospice of Texarkana's We Honor Veterans program will conduct a workshop from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 28 at its Care Center, 2407 Galleria Oaks Drive, Texarkana, Texas.

Ret. Col. Anita Deason, the military and veterans affairs liason for Arkansas Sen. John Boozman, will give the workshop.

The workshop is called the Library of Congress Veterans History Project, an initiative that aims to preserve and make accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans. The project was approved by Congress in 2000, and more than 100,000 have shared their stories in audio and video recordings that are now part of the collection, according to Boozman's website.

"Anyone in the community is welcome and veterans may have a particular interest in attending," said Stefanie Brazile, Hospice of Texarkana director of development and public relations.

An ice cream social will follow the workshop.

RSVP is required by Monday and can be made by calling 903-794-4263.
