Liberty-Eylau Independent School District's Board of Trustees will consider free breakfast and lunch for all district students during its regular meeting today.

If approved, funds would be made available through the Community Eligibility Provision for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, which gives eligible local educational agencies and schools with high percentages of low-income children the option to offer free school meals to all children in those schools without collecting applications.

The board will also hold a public hearing on the 2019-20 budget and tax rate.

The tax rate of $1.37 would remain the same, with $1.17 for maintenance and operations and $.20 for debt service. The proposed budget is $25,180,980. The district's certified tax values for 2018 are $569,347, 837, with the 2019 estimated values at $576,217,912.

Trustees will also consider naming a replacement for Trustee Christina Walker, who resigned from her position in May after serving the district since 1993.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Board Room, 2901 Leopard Drive, Texarkana, Texas.
