De QUEEN, Ark.—Melanie Anne Ross Carlton, 41, of De Queen died Thursday, May 24, 2018, in a Little Rock hospital. Mrs. Carlton was born Feb. 28, 1977, in Texarkana, Texas. She was a reading teacher at De Queen Primary School, former executive director of Foundation for Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas, former owner of De Queen Dance Works, formerly employed with Arkansas Children's Hospital and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Jason; two daughters, Riley Catherine and Amelia Elizabeth of De Queen; her mother, Cathy Berry Ross of Texarkana; one brother, Daniel Ross of Texarkana; her grandmother, Betty Berry of Texarkana; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joe and Edna Carlton of De Queen; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, De Queen, with the Rev. Nathan Rogers officiating. Private burial will be under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or Bogg Springs Baptist Camp. Online registration is at wilkersonfuneralhomes.com.
