TEXARKANA, Ark. -- The new edition of the Miller County Plat Book is available for $75 at the Miller County Conservation District.

The office is located at 3019 E. Ninth Street.

Wall maps are also available for $75.

The book includes landownership maps by township and range, a landowner index for easy cross referencing, and other county information, said Conservation Board member Nedra Turney.

The plat books are published every four years.

"There are always a lot of ownership changes during that time. The new books are always popular items," Turney said.

The cover of this year's book features photos of Smith Park.

"We were so impressed with all of the improvements at Smith Park, that it was chosen for the cover," Turney said.

The Arkansas Natural Resource Commission and the Miller County Conservation District provided matching funds, which aided in the recent construction of restrooms and showers at Smith Park. A quail habitat and pollination garden were also designed to attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.

Funds from sales of the plat book go back into the Miller County Conservation District's budget.

"We get funds from the state and from the Quorum Court but the plat book is a fundraiser we have been doing for a number of years," Turney said.

Mapping Solutions is the publisher.

Conservation Districts in Arkansas were formed in 1937. The purpose of each district is to develop comprehensive plans for the conservation of soil, water and related resources and to carry out a program of preventive and control measures.
