TEXARKANA, Texas -- On a cool sunny Saturday, six of the areas best brought the flavor to Texarkana Harley Davidson's chili cookoff. The location has had chili cookoffs before, though this was the first under the location's new management. At the end of the day, three of the champions who stood at the top of the spice pile were Tanya Robinson (first place) and Jennifer and Alan Charleton (second place).

"This is the first one I've done by myself," said Robinson. "I use carne asada, a Mexican cut beef, along with Mexican herbs and spices."

She enjoyed the contest and was elated with her victor.

"I'm ready to do this again," she said. "It was lots of fun and it's good to support our local Harley Davidson shop."

For Jennifer and Alan Charleton, this was their third competition.

"We won third at a cookoff in support of Texas Fallen Biker Wall," she said. "Our secret, stirring with a paddle. Also, we use sirloin."

All the above participants ride with the New Boston New Covenant Riders.

"I've been riding about 10 years," said Jennifer Charleton. "Alan has been riding about 30. Riding is fun, this is a great community, and rallies are a chance to witness to secular riders."

Michael Garza, apparel and marketing manager for Texarkana Harley Davidson agreed this was about the community.

"We wanted to bring together riders and non-riders, enjoy some fellowship together," he said. "We do this to show the local community how fun riding is, how cool motorcycling is, and how riding comes with community and friendship."
