TEXARKANA, Texas -- A 45-year-old Texarkana man accused of fathering a child with a teen girl is being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $200,000.

Christopher Darrell Brown allegedly was in a relationship with an adult member of the girl's family when the misconduct occurred, according to a probable cause affidavit. Brown allegedly began abusing the girl when she was 10. She is now 17.

In November 2020 the alleged victim reported to Texarkana Texas Police Department investigators that she believes Brown is the biological father of her child. DNA samples were collected at that time from Brown, the alleged victim and the child.

Results received from the crime lab this month allegedly confirm that Brown is the father of the teen's child. The girl reported multiple incidences of sexual abuse by Brown at two residential locations in Texarkana, Texas. Brown has been charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 for abuse which allegedly occurred when the girl was under 14 from 2014 to 2018.

The girl became pregnant at age 14.

If convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child, Brown faces 25 to 99 years or life in prison and there is no parole possible for any sentence imposed for the offense.

Brown has also been charged with sexual assault of a child for sexual abuse that allegedly occurred after the girl turned 14. If convicted of sexual assault of a child, Brown faces two to 20 years in prison.

Bail has been set at $100,000 on each of the two charges.

Brown is currently being held in the Bowie County jail. Jailing records show he was booked Nov. 15.

The case has been assigned to 202nd District Judge John Tidwell.
