Downtown dumpster fire ruled accidental

by Christy Busby | November 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

Engineer Josh Moore, left, and on the ladder, works to cut off the sprinkler system in the basement of the former Regions Bank building in downtown Texarkana as firefighter Brett Suggs looks on nearby and engineer Cody Cunningham hoses down the contents of the dumpster.

Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department members responded to the dumpster fire about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. Battalion Chief Jeff Tanner said work is being done on the building and the building's maintenance crew thought they could compact the trash. The heat from the Dumpster fire activated the sprinkler system. The fire was ruled accidental, Tanner said.
