Halloween is coming up in a couple of weeks, Thanksgiving will follow next month.
So it may seem a bit early to start thinking about Christmas. After all, it's just under three months away. But there is something about the holiday we think at least some of our area residents should know.
Every year, the local Salvation Army offers help for a happy holiday to families and seniors in need through their Angel Tree program.
The program brings together donors in the community and those who need help in making sure something special is under the tree.
The Salvation Army is now accepting applications from those who could use a bit of holiday assistance this year. If you have a child or children age 12 or younger, or you are senior age 65 or older, call The Salvation Army at 870-774-2701 to get the process started. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 5, but it's always a good idea to get the ball rolling early.
