Forklift certification training class to be held at University of Arkansas Hope campus next month

HOPE, Ark -- A forklift certification training class will be held at the University of Arkansas Hope campus on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Technical and Industrial Building, room 160.

The class is $80 per person and is limited to 15 participants available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The course is instructed by Iry T. Rice, owner of Rice Safety Consultants. The class is compliant with OSHA specifications and provides a three-year certification.

"The Forklift Certification class has been held at UAHT for several years," said Akili Moses Israel, director of Community Education/Business and Industry Training /Kids' College. "The class is aimed at the general public. Most are individuals wanting to increase their skills to improve their chances for employability or to get a promotion or salary increase at their existing job."

The Department of Labor requires any forklift operator to hold an OSHA forklift certification. Certification can increase workplace safety and productivity and lower costs. A forklift operator card and certificate will be awarded to attendees after successfully completing the course.
