Pleasant Grove defeats Leopards, 3-0

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Pleasant Grove defeated Liberty-Eylau in straight sets in District 15-4A varsity volleyball action Friday at Hawk Gym.

The Lady Hawks won 25-16, 25-13, 25-14.

Reese Gibbs had 11 service points and 11 set assists, Mackenzie Williams 12 set assists, and Harleigh O'Neal 9 kills for Pleasant Grove.

The Hawks (24-13, 7-0) are in sole possession of first place in district with three matches remaining.

Second-place Paris (21-8-1, 5-1) played at Pittsburg (1-5) Friday. The Lady Wildcats are ranked 17th in the Class 4A state poll by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

Pleasant Grove, which defeated Paris 3-1 in the first round, travels to Paris to face North Lamar in another district matchup Tuesday. The Hawks will close out the regular season on the road against Paris on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

Liberty-Eylau slips to 0-6 in against league competition.

Texas High beats Lobos

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Texas High rebounded from its lone district loss to defeat Longview in straight sets in the Tiger Center, 25-13, 26-24, 25-18.

Front-runner Texas High (25-11, 9-1) was led by Jaycee Kennedy (13 kills, 4 blocks), Valeria Perez (17 digs, 10 points), Bella Cherry (19 assists, 13 kills, 13 points), and Ashanti Northcross (18 points, 10 digs). Mally Lumpkin also served 17 points, Kailyn Williams had 16 assists, and Jalyn Golette 12 points.

Second-place Hallsville (21-9, 7-2) played at Marshall (24-11, 6-2) in a key match Friday. Hallsville edged Texas High in 5 sets Tuesday on the Ladycats' home court.

Longview falls to 8-18, 1-5.

Texas High lost the JV match against Longview, 25-12, 25-13. Kyndal Lee and Texlee Kellam had 7 points each for the Tigers.

The Lady Lobos also won the ninth-grade contest, 25-15, 25-12. Abby Roswell had 5 points for THS.

The Tigers' next match is Tuesday at Mount Pleasant.

Lady Bears in three

QUEEN CITY, Texas -- DeKalb downed Queen City in straight sets in District 14-3A volleyball action.

The Lady Bears won 25-17, 25-22, 25-22.

Second-place DeKalb (16-11, 7-3) trails league-leading Atlanta (19-6, 9-0).

The Bears were led by Anna-Claire Raulston with 13 service points and Emily Barrett had 6 points.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-7 district) were paced by Chyna Stiger (7 points, 6 kills, 4 digs), Lauren Carrell (6 kills, 4 blocks), Jamecia Cook (5 kills, 4 blocks) and Trinity Oden (9 points, 4 blocks).

Queen City plays again at home Tuesday against Redwater.
