TEXARKANA, Ark. -- A woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a collision at East Third Street and U.S. Highway 71 (Hickory Street).
Rebecca H. French, 65, of Texarkana, Ark., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to a preliminary fatality accident report from the Arkansas State Police.
The accident happened at 3:33 p.m., when French's 2006 Ford Taurus turned southbound onto Highway 71 and collided with a 2004 BMW that was northbound on the highway.
The collision spun French's vehicle out of control and it collided with a vacant building on the west side of the road, according to the report.
A passenger in French's vehicle was injured and taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
