String of armed convenience store robberies have Texarkana police on alert, seeking info

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Police here are searching for a man suspected of three armed robberies at local convenience stores.

The late-night armed robberies have happened during the last week and a half at convenience stores and all are believed to have been committed by the same suspect, said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for the Texarkana Texas Police Department. Two of the stores are on South Lake Drive and one store is in Texarkana, Arkansas.

The suspect is described as about 5 foot 9 and has a stocky build. He has worn a hoodie and mask in all three robberies and been armed with a handgun.

Anyone around a convenience store should be extra vigilant. If anyone notice a person or a vehicle that seems out of place or suspicious, they should call 911 so police can check it out.

"We'd much rather get a call and it wind up being nothing than not getting a call and there's another robbery -- this time where someone gets seriously hurt or killed," Vaughn said.

(Anyone with information on who might be responsible for the robberies can call TTPD at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.)
