OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas -- A big clash of historied high school football programs is imminent.
Paul Pewitt (4-3, 3-0) hosts Daingerfield (5-2, 3-0) today at 7:30 p.m. at Brahmas Stadium in a battle of District 10-3A, Div. II foes.
The Brahmas and the Tigers will tussle in a battle of district supremacy, which pits Paul Pewitt's run-heavy attack against Daingerfield's Spread offense.
"Year in and year out, Daingerfield always has great athletes," Brahma head coach Cedric Dorsey said. "We will have to come prepared, because they will always put up a fight.
"We will have to protect the football and make sure we play hard in all four quarters."
Running back James Byrd rushed for 201 yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns for Paul Pewitt in last week's 36-21 victory over DeKalb.
Deiontray Hill leads the Brahmas in rushing for the season with 704 yards on 103 attempts and six TDs. Quarterback Hayden Green is second with 382 yards on 65 totes and eight scores.
Joey Green is Paul Pewitt's top tackler with 46 tackles on the season, followed by Isaac Hodges' 39 and Eric Morris' 36. A'myree Johnson had two interceptions with a touchdown.
