Hawks to face Paris for league volleyball title

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Pleasant Grove bounced back from its only District 14-5A volleyball loss by edging Gilmer in five sets Friday at Hawk Gym.

The Lady Hawks lost the first two games to the Lady Buckeyes by scores of 25-17, 25-20, before rallying to win the next three games and the match, 25-17, 25-23, 15-8.

Pleasant Grove's win, coupled with Paris' 3-0 victory over Liberty-Eylau, sets up a showdown for the district championship Tuesday at Paris. The Hawks and Paris are 8-1 in league with Tuesday's regular season finale to decide the top two seeds. PG beat the Lady Wildcats, 3-1, in the first round.

Pleasant Grove (24-15 overall) had a tough match against Gilmer. Abigail Boehmke and Adi Koller served 10 points each for the Hawks, Lexi Snyder had 25 digs, Harleigh O'Neal 14 kills and Mackenzie Williams 23 set assists.

The Hawks' JV teams both won, the Black squad winning by scores of 25-18, 25-14, and the Gold team by 25-10, 25-22 scores. Faye Addison had 8 points for the Black team and Whitney Thornton served 9 points for the Gold unit.

The Lady Leopards lost to Paris by scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 Friday.
