Costume contest by Texarkana Museums to raise money to aid historic Ace of Clubs house

TEXARKANA, Ark. -- The Texarkana Museums System is holding a Decades Of Dress Costume Contest and Membership Drive party starting at 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, at the 1923 Banana Club Grand Opening inside the 1894 building at 223 Front St.

Tickets to the event are $50 per person with all proceeds going toward raising $25,000 in one-year TSM memberships.

The money is part of an overall effort to raise $500,000 for renovations needed for the Ace of Clubs House.

The Banana Club feature music performed by Tracy Davis, Emily Stuckey and Taylor Coleman, with snack food provided by Benchmark American Brasserie.

Ticket purchasers may dress in any style of clothing and enter event's contest. Costume judging starting at 8 p.m.

TMS Curator Jamie Simmons said all costume contestants are welcomed to wear any and all historic clothing, which could go as far back as the 1870s, when both sides of the city were chartered and all the way up to the 1970s
