TEXARKANA, Texas -- A man found dead in a Bowie County house Saturday has been identified as William Leon White, 66, of Texarkana, Texas.

White was found dead on the floor of a relative's house in the Wamba community, according to the Bowie County Sheriff's Office.

White was related to the occupants of the home and is often homeless, travelling by foot, according to BCSO. Evidence indicated that he had warmed himself near an outdoor fire pit at the residence before being injured. White then forced entry into the home and attempted to treat his severe injuries before he died.

An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Todd Fore and White was sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas. The cause of death has not been determined.

Wamba is an unincorporated community located about 7 miles north of Texarkana and is often accessed via Richmond Road.
