TEXARKANA, Texas -- Local chicken fanatics were on high alert when late Monday and early Tuesday they noticed Slim Chickens was closed.
"We got 47 phone calls over this alone," said Shawna Sprayberry, assistant general manager. "The phones were ringing off the hook."
Social media was rather abuzz as well. But, it turns out, a new year means tidying up for many, and in the case of Slim Chickens, the local franchise owner just wanted to do some maintenance.
"We had a crew resurfacing the parking lot and repainting the stripes for the parking places," Sprayberry said. "They got most of the work done in yesterday's late hours and in the early hours this morning. We've been open today and folks have been able to come by and enjoy their food no problem. So relax, everybody, we are still open."
(Slim Chickens is at 3201 N. State Line Ave.)
