HOOKS, Texas -- Feed 'Em Friday is a weekly tradition with Rock Solid Thrift, a quaint store on Main Street here. Offering a wide range of goods, clothes, furnishings, books and more, Rock Solid Thrift has conducted the Feed 'Em Friday event for 10 years.

"Bring five foodstuffs, canned goods, dried foods and the like, for Feed 'Em Friday, you get a 20% discount on whatever you buy that day," said J.C. Trine, who works there. "Lots to look through here, lots of options for someone looking for that something, for themselves, to gift to someone else, lots to choose from."

Rock Solid Thrift is affiliated with Plentiful Harvest, a church ministry based out of New Boston, Texas.

The story takes its name from the Bible's New Testament, Matthew 7:24: "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."

"It is all about helping the needy here," Trine said."The funds we raise, the food we gather, all to help those who may be in need. If you need help with bills, a place to stay, something eat, we try to help whomever we can."

(Rock Solid Thrift is located at 104 Main Street.)
