Texarkana animal shelter reopens after COVID exposure

TEXARKANA, Ark. -- The Animal Care and Adoption Center has reopened after closing on Jan.13 due to COVID exposure.

The adoption center is located on the 200 block of Harrison Street. The closure was in relation to employees at the center being exposed to COVID-19, according to officials.

In a news release the city of Texarkana, Arkansas stated that "the health and well being of our employees and the general public whom they interact with is our highest priority of concern."

The center's hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
