92-year-old victim identified in train-car collision near Bloomburg, Texas

BLOOMBURG, Texas -- The Texas Department or Public Safety has identified the victim of a fatal car-train collision, which took place shortly before 3 p.m., Friday, near Bloomburg.

James Martin, 92, of Doddridge, Arkansas, died when the 2007 Mercury Marquis he was driving, started crossing the railroad tracks at an unguarded crossing on Cass County Road 4920.

Martin, who was pronounced dead at the scene, failed to yield to an oncoming northbound Union Pacific freight train, officials say.

The crash remains under investigation, according to a vehicle crash information report released Saturday by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
