CLARKSVILLE, Texas—Billy Joe Mitchell, 91, of Clarksville died Monday, April 2, 2018, at his home. Mr. Mitchell was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Red River County, Texas. He was owner of Mitchell's Mill, an adult Sunday School teacher and member of New Haven Missionary Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Hamilton Mitchell. Survivors include his wife, Mary Sutton Mitchell of Clarksville; one son and daughter-in-law, John Ross and Barbara Mitchell of Clarksville; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Jay and Lori Smith of Annona, Texas; one daughter, Jane Faulkner of Clarksville; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sue and Ray Steed of Clarksville and Bobbie Miller of Picayune, Miss.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at New Haven Missionary Baptist Church with John Ross MItchell, James Hinkle and Dennis McClintic officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. today at the church. Online registration is at clarksvillefuneralhome.com.
