LORAINE ATKINS

HOPE, Ark.—Loraine Powell Atkins, 80, of Emmet, Ark., died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, in a local hospital. Mrs. Atkins was born May 31, 1937 in Hempstead County, Ark. She was retired from Martin's and a Sunday school teacher and member of Southside Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Atkins. Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike and Melissa Atkins of Arkadelphia, Ark., and Ronnie Atkins and Mark Atkins of Emmet; two sisters, Nella Bobo and Vinnie Holt of Hope; two grandchildren, Brandi Byerly and Micalah Atkins; one great-grandchild, Bryson Byerly; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be in Betts Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
