William Paul (Bill) Bean, Sr., 87, of Hooks, TX, died Sunday, July 29, 2018, in a local hospice facility. He was born November 27, 1930, in Texarkana, TX. He was a graduate of Texas High School, "Class of '49". After graduation, he attended the University of Arkansas and Texarkana College, and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a partner in the family business, John Moseley Office Supplies and Machines. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha Moseley Bean and children, Leighsa Bean and William (Bo) Bean Jr., of Texarkana, Jay Bean and wife, Jennifer, of Longview, and Mark Bean of Mena; granddaughters, Hayden Bean of Shreveport, and Allison Bean of Longview; and cousins, John Dalby, Robert Dalby, Dixie Bean Spears, and Bradley Leggett. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul H. and Edith Dalby Bean, and grandparents, Judge and Mrs. N.L. Dalby and many longtime friends. Mr. Bean was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry, the Auxiliary Vestry, and many committees over the years. He was on the first board of the Texarkana Sheltered Workshop (now part of Opportunities, Inc.), a member of the Texarkana Jaycees, Cub Scout Den Master, Scout Master, a member of the Order of the Arrow, a Pee Wee and Little League Baseball coach, a member of the Miller County Master Gardeners, and the Korean War Veterans Association. A Requiem Mass, celebrated by Father Douglas Anderson, will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M, under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the Great Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 413 Olive St., Texarkana, TX 75505; Hospice of Texarkana, 2407 Galleria Oaks Dr., Texarkana, TX 75503, or a charity of your choice.
