Virgie Dowdle

Virgie Mary Elizabeth Dowdle was born on April 15, 1936, in Texarkana. She passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on July 24, 2018, at the age of 82 in Texarkana, Texas. Virgie was the ninth child of ten children born to Jesse Lincoln Taylor and Lillie Elvina O'Neal Taylor. While raising four children as a single mother, Virgie had several career jobs including Decker's, Majestic manufacturing, K-Mart, and Avon. Later in life, Virgie loved to make jewelry in her spare time. She would share what she made with all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and anyone else that was interested in her hobby. Remembered with love by her children: Cathy Almon and husband, Jim; Michael Groff and wife, Debra; Roger Groff and wife, Becky; and Lennard Dowdle and wife, Barbara. Virgie is survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at 4:30 pm at First Baptist Church, 3015 Moores Lane, Texarkana, Texas 75503.
