Billie Jean Self Mauldin, age 83, passed away July 30, 2018 at Oaks Memory Care Assisted Living, Texarkana, Texas surrounded by her loving husband and daughter. Mrs. Mauldin was born July 27, 1935 to James Earnest and Ellen Self at Moss Springs. Mrs. Mauldin grew up in New Boston, Texas and moved to Texarkana. Billie married the love of her life in 1954, Robert Wayne Mauldin. They were married 64 years and raised three children. In 1982 they built a home in the Wake Village community and joined First Baptist Church, Wake Village. Billie enjoyed attending the Evergreen Club for seniors and all of the fun trips they took. She retired from Red River Army Depot. Before Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease altered her way of life, Billie enjoyed camping, traveling, painting, working puzzles and playing cards. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Mauldin and a daughter, Sandra Mauldin Pynes. Survivors include her husband, Robert Wayne Mauldin; one daughter and son-in-law, Lorna and Steve Brine of Texarkana, Texas; seven granddaughters, Toni Brine Crowder, Keri Brine Shaw, Nicole Jenkins Peavy, Hollie Jenkins Sims, Madison Pynes Reel, Caitlyn Pynes Giles and Jordan Pynes Ames; nine great-grandchildren and a number of special nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Oaks Memory Care of Texarkana, Heritage Hospice, Scott Neathery, First Baptist Church Wake Village, Brittany Higginbotham, Carmen Coats Family and Chad Edgington Family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Chad Edgington officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Tuesday prior to the service.
