NELLIE THOMAS Nellie Kate Steger Thomas, 85, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Thomas was born Aug. 12, 1933, in Doddridge, Ark. She was retired from Texarkana College as an English literature professor also was and a member of the Williams School Board of Directors, United Methodist Women and Williams Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. George Monroe Thomas Jr. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda J. Thomas and Charles Wesley and Graham Laura Ann Thomas and Christophjer James martineau; one son and daughter-in-law, John Russell and Wendy Thomas; two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Steger and Gary Ronald Steger; three grandchildren, Lindsay Taylor Graham, Anna Christine Martineau and Leah Claire Martineau; and a number of other relatives. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church. A reception will follow the services. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
