Karolyn Meek Poe, age 70, of Texarkana, Texas, left this earth for her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Karolyn was born July 2, 1948, to Robert and Willodean Meek at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana. As a "military brat," she lived in a number of states across the country and even lived in Okinawa Japan twice during her childhood. Upon her father's retirement from the Air Force and following her high school graduation, her family settled in Denison, Texas. She attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In December 1970, she married Wayne, the love of her life, and moved to Texarkana, Texas. She was a fourth grade teacher at Liberty-Eylau. When Wayne opened his State Farm agency in 1977, Karolyn left education to manage his office and help get his agency up and running. For the past 21 years, she has worked alongside of her son as office manager of Premier Outdoor Equipment. Her proudest accomplishment was her family, especially her grandkids. She adored spending time with her grandkids playing "Flickin' Chicken," making Christmas cookies, dying and hiding Easter eggs, sharpening her shopping skills by shopping at Dillards during every sale, and always finding the craziest Christmas gag gifts for her grandkids' stockings. She spent countless hours supporting her grandkids whether it was watching games at the soccer and baseball fields or attending dance recitals. And with every farewell, she always told them, "See you later, alligator," to which they replied, "After while, crocodile!" She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wayne Poe of Texarkana, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Leah Poe of Texarkana, Texas, and Robert and Amy Poe of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister Kathleen Neal of Jalisco, Mexico; and four grandchildren she adored: Jordan and Justin Poe of Texarkana, Texas, and Brooke and Jared Poe of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at First Baptist Church Atrium with Rev. Larry Sims and Dr. Terry Land officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the atrium. Private burial will be in Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Hooks, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Watersprings Ranch, 7707 Sanderson Lane, Texarkana, Arkansas 71854, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at CHRISTUS St. Michael for the compassion and care shown to both Karolyn and the family during recent days. While our hearts are breaking, we celebrate the time spent with you and knowing we will see you again one day. "See you later, alligator."
