DeKALB, Texas—Jackie Neil Hawkins, 85, of DeKalb died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, in a local nursing home. Mr. Hawkins was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Big Spring, Texas. He was a retired rancher, a financial comptroller for Red River Army Depot, an insurance agent with Germania Farm Mutual Insurance, and an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Hawkins of DeKalb; one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Yolanda Hawkins of Queen City, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Phillip Roberts of DeKalb; three sisters, Ava Dell Brown and Mary Nell Hensley of New Boston, Texas, and Carol Frances Gauntt of Maud, Texas; one brother, Buford Hawkins of Texarkana; three grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Bates Family Funeral Home with the Revs. Rick Gandy and David Baxley officiating. Burial will be in Woodmen Cemetery.
