Anne Marie Lummus McCord, age 80 of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 14, 2018, in a Houston area hospital. Anne Marie (Lummus) McCord, daughter of the late Cecil and Geneva (Sherman) Lummus, was born on May 14th 1938 in Atlanta, Texas. She attended Atlanta Public Schools and graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and served faithfully in multiple churches, most recently First Baptist Atlanta. While a member at First Baptist Atlanta she served in many rolls including President of Adult 4 Ladies Sunday School, which was a passion of her life. She was united in holy matrimony with Robert McCord on April 15th, 1960. This marriage blessed Anne with two children, Cheryl Taylor now residing in Loghill Village, Colorado and Chris McCord living in The Woodlands, Texas. Robert resides currently in Atlanta, Texas. Anne was an educator for 40 years serving as a teacher, counselor, and educational diagnostician. During this time she worked in public schools of Kilgore, Forney and Atlanta. Additionally, she was a key contributor to the successful operation of McCord Brangus Ranch. Her beautiful life and spirit of caring for others will be reflected in additional survivors including two grandchildren Brock McCord of Little Rock, Arkansas, Blair McCord of Fayetteville, Arkansas, son-in-law Woody Taylor of Loghill Village, daughter-in-law Angie McCord of The Woodlands and special first cousin Ray Lummus and wife Kim of Bloomburg. Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with Bro. Wes Mills officiating. Visitation will be from 6 pm 8 pm, Monday, December 17, at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment will be in Cornett Cemetery, Intersection of FM 2888 and FM 250 in Cornett, Cass County.
