AUSTIN—Cread L. Ray Jr., 87, formerly of Texarkana died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, in Lansing, Mich. Mr. Ray was born March 10, 1931, in Waskom, Texas. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the Air Force Reserve, owner of Taylor & Ray Law Firm, former County Judge of Harrison County, former member of Texas House of Representatives, a judge with Sixth Court of Appeals, retired from Supreme Court of Texas, former president of Harrison County Bar Association and Northeast Texas Bar Association, a member of Marshall Jaycees and Texas Jaycees, an Eagle Scout, Vice President for Legal Affairs, Board Executive and Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America and a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sue Ann Ray Culver; and one stepson, David Keller. Survivors include his wife, Janet Watson Keller Ray of Lansing; four children and three spouses, Dr. Robert E. and Martha Ray of Houston, Glenn L. Ray of Denver, Colo., Dr. Marcie L. and Ben Ray of Lansing and Dr. Anne M. and George Ray of Ridgefield, Wash.; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert C. and Betty Jean Ray of Longview, Texas; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. No services are scheduled at this time. Interment will be at Texas State Cemetery at a later date.
