WILLIAM MELTON

William M. "Joe" Melton, 86, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, in a local hospice. Mr. Melton was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Bruce, Miss. He was a retired mobile home plant production worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Melton; and three grandchildren, Stephanie Kirby, Kim Kirby and Matthew Kirby. Survivors include one son, Charles Melton of Redwater, Texas; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam and Jesse Kirby of Redwater and Sherry Melton of Wake Village, Texas; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lacey Melton and Matthew Shirley; two great-grandchildren, Graham Shirley and Griffyn Shirley; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Joe Owens officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
