James "Bugsey" Smith, 67, of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at his home. Mr. Smith was born Aug. 31, 1950, in Queen City, Texas. He was a retired cable splicer with Windstream and a deacon of Leary Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gennetta Smith of Texarkana; three daughters, Annette Hatchett and Alicia Oliver of Texarkana and Stephanie Williams of Grand Prairie, Texas; one son, Damon Smith of Texarkana; his mother, Luetencie Butts of Texarkana; 15 siblings, John Booth, Catherine Early, Larry Booth, Connie Thompson, Doris Johnson, Stacey Douglas, Narvis Gipson, Roosevelt Gipson, Jr., Elmon Gipson, Sr., Diane Gray, Lewis Booth, Arlee Booth, Alberta Jackson, Norris Booth and Willie Ray Booth; and five grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Unity Baptist Church with the Revs. James Hawkins and Henry E. Keener officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
