MAGNOLIA, Ark.—Sterling Evans Blackmon, 56, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. Dr. Blackmon was born Nov. 24, 1961, in Camden. He was retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield Illinoi, a Worshipful Master with Welcome Star Lodge 36, a member of NAACP, AZAR Foundation Inc., RD Foundation, Devine Diva and Don's, American Legion, Old Skool Car Club, Northern Illinois Food Bank Drive Committee; Good Morning Shout Team, Booker Washington Center Fundraisers Committee, Special Olympics for Summer Events and Rockford Association of Minority Management Committee and an Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Deloris Blackmon; two sons, Montreal Blackmon and James Catrell Williams; one daughter, Lisa Alicia Smith; his mother, Lola Caldwell; one brother, Rodney Blackmon; one sister, Charlotte Allen; his grandmother, Frances Hill; and a number of other relatives. Services with military honors and Masonic Rites will be 2 p.m. today at Bethany Baptist Church, McNeil, Ark., with the Rev. Norris Flannagan officiating under direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home.
