Billy Joe Harris, 85, passed away January 27, 2018 at home in Portland, TX. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison, TX. He was born on January 14, 1933 in Marietta, TX to Herman and Maude Harris. He was proud to be a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite, and Shriner. He was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, AMVETS, and Elks Lodge. After his service, he had many occupations, most notably owning a garage and salvage yard in Sherman. He was a jack of all trades mechanic and could fix almost any engine. In later years, he was involved in square dancing where he made a lot of lifelong friends. He loved to play pool, board games, cards, and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Harris of Portland; sister Marylon Williams of Richardson; children Mike Harris of Denison; Tim (Melody) Harris of Sherman; Beverly Harris Garcia (Tony) of Sherman; Sandra Harris (Don Kinsey) of Sherman; step-children Penny Lamb (George) of Corpus Christi; Kenneth Tucker of Howard, CO; Carl Tucker of Houston; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
